Sovereign Hill is a dynamic group of museums presenting the mining, social, cultural and environmental heritage of the Ballarat region and its impact on Australia’s history.

Sovereign Hill maintains teams of working horses living and working at Sovereign Hill. The Horse Department is responsible for maintaining the horses and their quarters and for ensuring the horses carry out their daily work schedule. Horse breeds include Clydesdales, Percherons, cross breeds of these two breeds and Quarter horses. Experience with these breeds is essential.

The Horse Presentation Team Leader is responsible for delivering realistic horse works of the 1850’s and contributing to the Horse Department’s day to day operations and presentation in Sovereign Hill’s Township, stables and paddocks. They will assist with the care of horses, develop a safe working culture and safe work practices, implement a systematic program of training and development of staff and operate within Sovereign Hill’s corporate policies and procedures as well as ensuring horse health.
