The Visitor Services & Venues team is responsible for delivering excellence in customer service in a broad range of front-of-house operations across MAAS sites including venue management, ticketing & booking, gallery invigilation, visitor and event safety, customer service for public programs as well as supporting the operational delivery of public and private events.

The main focus of delivery for the Visitor Services team is supporting our visitors. These include the roles of event usher and gallery attendant, as well as duties in ticketing and membership sales. In addition to providing information to the public, Visitor Services Officers (VSOs) work closely with the MAAS Volunteer Program and provide assistance with event and program delivery.

The Visitor Services Officer (casual) role is primarily responsible for providing a warm welcome through the provision of an exceptional standard of customer service to all physical, telephone and on line visitors, as well as MAAS members. Visitor Services Officers provide support for the delivery of events occurring during the day, evenings and at weekends across all MAAS spaces.

The successful applicant will be available for casual employment across all MAAS sites including the Sydney Observatory at The Rocks and the Museums Discovery Centre in Castle Hill. An immediate start for the Future Park Exhibition is required at the Powerhouse Museum in November, as well as a necessity for casual staff the Museums Discovery Centre in Castle Hill.

To be eligible to apply for this role you must meet these requirements:

  • Capacity to operate calmly and effectively in an environment of high visitor volumes whilst simultaneously ensuring the safety of the public and exhibits.
  • Ability to effectively operate cash handling, ticketing and membership systems.
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate and have passed a Responsible Service of Alcohol course.
