Queensland are proud to announce the recipients of the 2026 Queensland Museum Medal, recognising three outstanding leaders whose vision, advocacy and commitment have helped shape the organisation and strengthen its impact across Queensland.

  • Dr Harry Van Issum honoured for his leadership of the Queensland Museum Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Consultative Committee, including his strong advocacy for repatriation and his commitment to championing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices, knowledge and storytelling.
  • Professor Margaret Sheil AO recognised for her leadership as Chair of the Board since 2019, helping guide a period of transformation, growth and renewed ambition across the organisation.
  • Cathi Taylor recognised for her instrumental role in re-establishing the Queensland Museum Foundation and fostering a strong culture of philanthropy, helping grow support for collections, research, exhibitions and community programs. Through their leadership, generosity and advocacy, these recipients have helped create deeper connections between people, stories, science and culture. Congratulations to all three recipients on this well-deserved recognition.
