Museums of History NSW Dr Zeny Edwards OAM Student Research Fellowship.

The Museums of History NSW Dr Zeny Edwards OAM Student Research Fellowship offers students enrolled at a NSW university the opportunity to undertake an eight-week fellowship at Museums of History NSW.

About the fellowship

The principal purpose of the fellowship is to give participants the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the history of NSW while contributing to public knowledge of MHNSW’s collections, which include historic buildings and sites and related objects, as well as the NSW State Archives Collection and the Caroline Simpson Library Collection.

The program will offer a focused period of research based on selected MHNSW collections, under the guidance of staff. Fellows will be assigned a mentor to guide their research, enhancing their knowledge and expertise.

Applications

Applications open Monday 11 May 2026 at 9am AEST and close on Sunday 12 July 2026 at 5pm AEST.

The program will award up to three fellowships each year. Applicants must be enrolled in third-year undergraduate or postgraduate studies.

The following payment will support a focused period of research based on selected MHNSW collections:

  • $2,500 for third-year undergraduate students
  • $5,000 for postgraduate students

 

A travel bursary of up to $1,200 will be available to successful regional applicants residing outside the Sydney Metropolitan area to support travel and accommodation costs.
