An exciting opportunity is available for a dynamic individual to join the Australian Museum (AM) in a key strategic role to lead one of the AM’s five divisions, Public Affairs & Development.

The Australian Museum (AM) operates within the NSW Department of Planning and Environment. The AM is the first museum in Australia and was founded in 1827. The AM provides access, engagement and scientific research to increase our understanding of natural history and culture, particularly of the Australasian region.
The AM holds more than 21 million objects of biological, geological and cultural collections and develops programs, exhibitions and school and community education initiatives onsite, online and offsite. About the role:
Lead, direct, and manage the development and relationships with state, federal and local governments and other key external stakeholders in the community to support the AM’s strategic direction. This role is also responsible for securing financial support for the Australian Museum from private sources including individual donors, Trusts & Foundations, Private Ancillary funds and bequests to increase philanthropic revenues, engagement and awareness, and to enhance the Museum’s brand.
About you:
As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate:
- Tertiary qualifications in government relations, public affairs, marketing/communications and/or long term experience in related discipline.
- Demonstrated success in a senior role with experience in successfully managing and developing government and external relationships and partnerships and experience in community relations.
Significant experience in managing reputation and stakeholder support in a cultural or allied environment. - Significant and strategic experience in driving marketing and communications strategies and achieving and analysing results.
- Demonstrated success in driving fundraising strategy and achieving results across corporate support, philanthropy and giving and grants.
- Superior networking skills and experience in managing Trustees, Government and key stakeholders.
- Adequate knowledge and experience in order to deliver the Key Accountabilities and perform to the Focus Capabilities outlined in the Role Description.
