The Sovereign Hill Museums Association is a not-for profit community-based organisation that includes: Sovereign Hill Outdoor Museum, Sovereign Hill Hotel, AURA and Narmbool, the Australian Centre for Rare Trades and Arts and the Australian Centre for Gold Rush Collections. It cares for a nationally and internationally significant collection of over 150,000 objects and protects the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Victorian gold rush.

We are an Australian tourism icon that attracts some 500,000 visitors annually. The Outdoor Museum is internationally renowned as a living museum featuring rare trades, and programs and experiences that interpret a pivotal point in Australia’s history. In all, some 350 staff work to bring our gold-rush story to life. They are supported by over 250 volunteers.

An exciting opportunity for a part time Inventory Officer to join our team. The Inventory Officer is responsible for supporting the effective and timely operation of the Merchandise Team, including through accurate processing of inventory transactions, monitoring and improving book stock integrity, preparation of internal and external inventory orders and stocktake administration.  The Inventory Officer also provides support to the Storeperson to enable accurate and timely goods receiving and efficient movement of inventory and Central Store based products.

Tasks will include:

  • Inventory Management, including the ongoing monitoring of invoice costs, identifying opportunities and process improvements.
  • Working collaboratively as part of a team to monitor and record stock levels, stock organisation and administration.
  • Monitor stock quantities and distribute to required locations.
  • Prepare Hampers and online orders for dispatch

To be successful in the role, applicants should have:

  • Experience with Inventory / merchandise management computer systems or similar, highly desirable
  • Understanding of a retail and / or warehouse environment.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to develop new systems, processes and procedures
  • Microsoft Office Skills, including Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills

  • Current Australian Drivers License
  • Eligible to work in Australia
