ABOUT THE POSITION:

Museums Victoria is seeking a vigilant and proactive MVPRU Services Patrol Guard to ensure the safety and security of our sites during overnight hours. Operating as part of the Mobile Vehicle Patrol Response Unit, this position plays a vital role in deterring threats, responding to incidents, and supporting after-hours operations.

You’ll be responsible for vehicle-based and foot patrols, first response to security alarms, welfare checks on other security personnel, and accurate reporting of all activities to the Security Operations Centre (SOC). This is a key frontline role helping protect our staff, visitors, collections, and facilities.

Some of the key duties include:

  • Conduct regular vehicle and foot patrols to monitor site perimeters, access points, and security risks.
  • Respond to alarms, incidents, and emergencies in line with MV protocols.
  • Perform welfare checks on night staff and maintain a visible, reassuring presence.
  • Complete accurate logs, incident reports
  • Delivery/pickup when required
  • Maintain the MVPRU vehicle, ensuring it is operational, clean, and properly stocked with required supplies.
  • Liaise with the SOC and emergency services to manage incidents and ensure smooth shift coordination.

 

The successful applicant will have:

You are calm under pressure, detail-focused, and take pride in ensuring a safe and secure environment. You are confident driving at night, prepared to take initiative in emergencies, and comfortable working autonomously as well as part of a broader security team.

Essential Requirements

  • Certificate II in Security Operations
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Valid Victorian Driver’s Licence
  • Prior experience in security, mobile patrols, or logistics preferred
  • Proficiency in reporting tools, basic tech systems, and radio communication
  • Strong communication, incident response, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work overnight shifts, including weekends and public holidays
  • Must pass a National Police Records Check (cost to be met by the applicant)
