The near-complete skeleton of a marine predator likened to a monstrous dolphin has come to the surface in outback Queensland.
The 7.1-metre fossil of an ichthyosaur, which dominated an inland sea over the area 100 million years ago, was found at Toolebuc Station, about 400 kilometres north-west of Longreach in western Queensland.
