The Opportunity:

The Senior Curator, Community Engagement, is accountable to the Manager, Curatorial for contributing to the planning, research and development of projects and programs with a specific focus on community engagement, that engage, inform and inspire our visitors.

Key components of the role:          

  • Develop links with and providing advice, consultancy services, assistance and training to the South Australian history network on the engagement with and management, care, and interpretation of historical collections.
  • Be an advocate for local, regional and specialist museums and collections at local, state and national level.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with other local, state and federal history and museums related agencies, organisations and engagement programs as appropriate.
  • Provide professional advice and assistance to the Manager, Curatorial on issues relating to community-based local, regional and specialist collections and also state government-owned collections.
  • Develop and coordinate engagement projects and initiatives which enable and support the work of the South Australian history network.
  • Develop and deliver content through online and digital platforms, including social media.
  • Raise the profile of South Australian history and promote the History Trust’s role in the preservation, sustainability and interpretation of regional, local and specialist collections.
  • Promote the use of digital tools and methods across the History Trust of SA to broaden engagement with and services for the South Australian history network.

 

Essential Qualifications:

Degree in History, Museum Studies or related field.

Special Conditions

Some out of hours work may be required. Occasional weekend work may be required. Engagement in this role is subject to a satisfactory Department of Human Services Working with Children Check. Intrastate and interstate travel may be required and a current driver’s licence is essential.
