We are currently seeking a highly passionate and enthusiastic Operations Manager, Exhibition Production who will help achieve Scitech’s purpose by leading and directing our Exhibition Design, Software and Digital, Engineering and Construction, and Facilities business areas.

This position is offered on a Full-time basis on a 2-year fixed-term contract.

  • Reports to General Manager, Exhibition and Operations
  • Direct Reports: Managers of Exhibition Design, Software and Digital, Maintenance Engineering and Construction, and Facilities

 

In this role you will:

  • Lead day-to-day operations of exhibition production across Industrial Design, Software & Digital, Engineering/Fabrication, with a clear cadence of planning, stand-ups, stage gates, and quality reviews.
  • Serve as the single point of operational accountability for exhibition builds, coordinating with Experience Curation, Project Delivery, and external partners.
  • Implement and continuously improve processes, policies, and WHS practices for design, prototyping, build, test, install, maintenance, and decommissioning.
  • Build and coach a high-performing, multidisciplinary team culture that is innovative, safe, and values-led; set priorities, allocate resources, and manage performance.
  • Standardise engineering and documentation practices (BOMs, drawings, change control, versioning) and ensure design-for-maintenance throughout the exhibit lifecycle.
  • Partner with Facilities on workshop capability, tools, and maintenance readiness for new exhibits; ensure compliance with WHS and relevant standards.
  • Drive supplier/contractor performance: define scopes, evaluate vendors, manage SLAs, and ensure on-time delivery.
  • Contribute to productisation of exhibits for travelling/commercial opportunities by embedding modularity, durability, and serviceability.

 

Who are we looking for? 

We are seeking an individual who has proven leadership running operations for exhibition production, themed entertainment, museums, experiential/AV, fabrication, or hardware product development.

  • Track record building multidisciplinary teams and holding them to outcomes in complex, deadline-driven environments.
  • Strong operational systems mindset: resource planning, scheduling, procurement, QA/QC, risk management, change control.
  • Comfortable with engineering and digital workflows; able to integrate industrial design, fabrication, controls, and software/AV.
  • Financial acumen: able to own budgets, forecast, and report with clarity.
  • WHS-first leader with practical experience implementing safe systems of work.
  • Tertiary qualification in engineering, industrial design, or related discipline; or equivalent senior trade/operations experience.
  • Nice to have: proficiency with CAD (e.g., Inventor, SolidWorks) and digital project tools (e.g., Jira), but leadership and systems capability matter most.
