Media Release, Terracotta Warriors breaks record as the WA Museum Boola Bardip enters Hall of Fame, Western Australian Museum, November 2025

The Western Australian Museum’s Terracotta Warriors: Legacy of the First Emperor exhibition has officially become the most visited exhibition in the WA Museum’s history, attracting more than 175,000 visitors to date — surpassing the previous record set by Dinosaur Discovery in 2014, which welcomed 173,040 visitors.
With three months still to go, the exhibition will far exceed the previous visitation record. With 25% of attendees travelling from interstate or overseas, this exhibition is an example of how the arts and culture industry supports tourism and economic growth in Western Australia.
Curated by the WA Museum in collaboration with colleagues from Shaanxi, China, the exhibition showcases world-class expertise and cultural exchange.
The WA Museum Boola Bardip is also proud to share that over the weekend, it won gold in the Major Tourist Attraction category at the Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards. Having previously won gold in 2023 and 2024, this win now earns the Museum a place in the Tourism Hall of Fame.
In what was a very successful night for the Museum, it also took home silver for Cultural Tourism and bronze for Excellence in Accessible Tourism. The win caps off an extraordinary year for the WA Museum Boola Bardip, welcoming blockbuster exhibitions, experiencing record visitor numbers and achieving an incredible 96% visitor satisfaction rating.
The Museum continues to remain dedicated to sharing culture, heritage and art in accessible and meaningful ways, strengthening cross-cultural collaboration and creating new opportunities to engage with stories from around the globe.
