In all, some 350 staff work to bring our gold-rush story to life. They are supported by over 250 volunteers.
About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for casual Operations Staff to support the Sovereign Hill Museums Association during our flagship winter event, Winter Wonderlights.
This seasonal role runs from 26 June to 19 July 2026, with training beginning at the start of June. This role has the potential for ongoing casual work beyond the event period. You’ll be part of the team that brings this iconic experience to life, supporting daily operations, visitor experiences, and event delivery across the Outdoor Museum.
We’re looking for reliable, energetic team members who enjoy working in a dynamic, outdoor environment and delivering exceptional visitor experiences.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of Winter Wonderlights through event setup, pack down, and operational assistance across the site
- Provide exceptional customer service and engage with visitors to create a memorable experience
- Assist with general operations including cleaning, waste management, fire setting, and maintaining presentation of the Museum
- Support functions, activations, and visitor programs, including basic interpretation and directions
- Assist with moving equipment, setting up spaces, and general manual handling tasks
- Work collaboratively across teams to ensure smooth daily operations during a high-volume event period
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in tourism, hospitality, events, or customer service (highly regarded)
- Strong communication skills with a friendly and approachable manner
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and school holidays
- Physically capable of manual tasks and working outdoors in winter conditions
- Current Working with Children Check and willingness to obtain a Police Check
- A positive, team-focused attitude and willingness to learn
