Archie Moore’s installation is a fragile record of First Nations people.

The first thing I notice when I walk into the room enfolding Archie Moore’s Kith and Kin installation is the stillness. It’s like a crypt.

Once my eyes adjust to the darkness – which takes a few moments, having come from the bright Brisbane sunshine into the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) – fragile chalk-written words on a blackboard, spanning all four walls of the room, begin to emerge.
