Primavera 2026: Young Australian Artists, Museum of Contemporary Art, April 2026
MCA Australia’s annual exhibition of exciting new work by Australian artists aged 35 and under.

For Primavera 2026, curator Antares Wells brings together artists from across the country who open up new ways of working with history, memory and the archive.
Spanning photography, film, installation, textiles and painting, Primavera 2026 presents new work by artists Mark Maurangi Carrol (NSW), Stanton Cornish-Ward & Trent Crawford (WA/VIC), Callum McGrath (QLD/VIC), Jahkarli Romanis (VIC), Linda Sok (NSW), Jack Wansbrough (WA) and Rudi Williams (VIC). They approach the material and psychic traces of the past in diverse ways. These include irreverent and experimental approaches to archival material, acts of obsession and reparation, and making art at the edges of memory.
Since 1992, Primavera: Young Australian Artists has featured the work of over 250 artists and 30 curators and launched the careers of many of Australia’s most significant contemporary artists. Each year, the curator of Primavera undertakes extensive research, visiting artists’ studios across the country to develop the exhibition.
Primavera 2026: Young Australian Artists is supported by Major Patrons Chloe and Andrew Podgornik and MCA Next, the Museum’s program for young philanthropists.
