The Senior Manager, Exhibition Workshop will manage and supervise the construction, fabrication, installation and deinstallation of Queensland Museum (QM) commercial, touring and temporary exhibitions and renewals.

Leading the Exhibition Workshop team the Senior Manager, Exhibition Workshop supports the Director, Exhibitions and Creative Services in driving and delivering exhibition and experience outcomes.

The successful applicant’s demonstrated experience and knowledge of building and construction will provide technical input and advice at QM exhibition planning, design and implementation stages to meet international museum standards.

The Senior Manager, Exhibition Workshop will:

  • Collaborate with the Director, Exhibitions and Creative Services and Collections, Research and Exhibitions team members across QM to develop, manage and supervise the construction, fabrication, installation and deinstallation of QM commercial, touring and temporary exhibitions and renewals.
  • Lead the Exhibition Workshop team to support the Director, Exhibitions and Creative Services in driving and delivering exhibition and experience outcomes.
  • Use demonstrated experience and knowledge of building and construction to provide technical input and advice at exhibition planning, design, and implementation stages to meet internationalmuseum standards.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary project teams to ensure a connected and inclusive approach to exhibition construction and delivery.
  • Use demonstrated project management skills to manage exhibition construction of all scales in accordance with endorsed frameworks including:
    • preparing and monitoring operational and equipment budgets, briefs, asset lists, procedures and risk assessments
    • engaging and managing contractors and
    • developing and maintaining a network of external contractors and suppliers.
  • Contribute to the operational management of the QM through active participation of working parties, project teams and technical services.
  • Ensure planned and emergency maintenance and repair of exhibitions is undertaken throughoutQM galleries.
  • Manage the human and technical resources of the Exhibition Workshop including maintaining workshop equipment and facilities, supervising their use to ensure operator safety and asset managementof equipment.
  • Develop and sustain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Comply with QM policies, procedures and appropriate legislation.
  • Contribute to the safety culture of QM by reporting all incidents and hazards and ensuring work is undertaken in the safest way possible, following all QM WHS policies and/or procedures and guidelines relevant to the job.
