We are currently seeking a highly passionate and enthusiastic Casual Science Communicator who will help achieve Scitech’s purpose by inspiring audiences through the delivery of exciting, engaging and relevant science experiences.
This position is offered on a casual basis.
In this role you will:
- Engage with our visitors in our galleries and other spaces, demonstrating exceptional customer service to all.
- You will make a positive impression on teachers, students, stakeholders, and the general public by being approachable and building rapport with a positive attitude.
- Deliver quality STEM programs such as science shows, STEM workshops, and puppet shows to visitors including families, mixed groups, and school classes.
- Carry out daily operational procedures to ensure the efficient running of programs, including cleaning and maintenance as required.
- Liaise with educators and external customers to ensure audience targeted delivery of programs.
- Adapt delivery of shows and programs to suit the needs of the audience.
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking an individual on a casual basis who can work in our galleries on a casual basis, delivering programs that meet the expectations of the audience and who has the ability to build positive working relationships with customers, teachers, students and their colleagues.
Other skills and experience required includes:
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills including the ability to build positive working relationships with customers and staff at all levels on a range of topics.
- Demonstrated public presentation or performance skills and experience presenting to a range of audiences.
- Experience working with children, ideally in a teaching or coaching role.
- Demonstrated highly developed communication skills including proven effective written, verbal, negotiation and presentation skills with internal stakeholders across the organisation and with the full range of external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated to prioritise work with accuracy and attention to detail
- Working With Children Check or ability to obtain one.
- National Police Clearance or ability to obtain one.
- Science or Education related tertiary qualification (desirable).
