Support announced for NT regional museums

Support announced for NT regional museums, MAGNT, July 2026

Funding of $262,440.00 has been awarded to nine regional museums, galleries and cultural centres around the Northern Territory (NT) as part of the 2026 Regional Museums Grant Program.

The program supports the preservation, conservation and display of significant historical cultural material in the NT through grants of up to $40,000 per project. Funding is provided by the Northern Territory Government and administered by the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT).

Over the next year, the successful recipients will undertake archival projects, conservation management of collections, improvement of interpretive signage of exhibitions, install new collection storage and undertake much needed exhibition development.

MAGNT Director Adam Worrall said that the NT was home to some of the most unique and remote art, history and cultural collections in the world. “The Regional Museums Grant Program plays a vital role in supporting the organisations that care for our shared history,” he said. “These projects will help ensure important collections are preserved and presented for future generations to learn from and enjoy.”

A highly competitive round, the projects were selected by an independent panel from a total pool of applications worth $352,215.00.
