About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Health, Safety & Wellbeing, the Health Safety & Wellbeing Coordinator plays a pivotal role in supporting a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace for more than 350 staff and 250 volunteers across Sovereign Hill Museums Association.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee incident, hazard, and corrective action management processes, ensuring timely follow-up, investigation support, reporting, and closure of actions.

  • Maintain and continually improve SHMA’s Safety Management System, including system administration, reporting, user management, records management, and data integrity.

  • Coordinate workplace inspections, audits, risk assessments, and compliance monitoring activities across multiple operational areas.

  • Assist in the development, implementation and review of health and safety procedures, systems, and documentation.

  • Coordinate and support delivery of internal training programs, including emergency management and first aid.

  • Coordinate and administer workers compensation claims and Return to Work programs, including injury management, suitable duties planning and liaison with injured workers, treating practitioners and insurers.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a health and safety or compliance-based role.

  • Sound understanding of Occupational Health and Safety and Workers Compensation legislation.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the organisation.

  • Experience using safety management systems, databases, and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Ability to analyse information, prepare reports and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
