OPEN CALL – 2027 residencies at the Field Rooms
Open Field Agency is very excited to call out for our 2027 Placeholder artists in residence:
The Placeholder Residency offers time and space to make exciting work; research and test new ideas; and last but not least, build connections within the local community of Waterloo, NSW. This residency holds a place and time for wonderful things to happen.
The residency takes place in the Field Rooms bespoke spaces designed by architect Hugo Moline and artist Heidi Axelsen from MAPA Art and Architecture. The Field Rooms are located within the live construction site at 921 Bourke Street, Waterloo, part of the Danks Street South District development. The project originated through the work of the durational public art project Open Field Agency.
Open Field Agency is an experiment in delivering public art over time within private development through durational residencies. Moving away from static objects in space, it is public art re-framed as a slow, incremental process of making a place more public.
The Open Field Agency invites artists, scientists, architects, carers, historians, performers, researchers, students and others. The task of Open Field Agents is to tend to the openness of this place. Its’ social and spatial openness through their own work, research, conversations and creations.
