The Sovereign Hill Museums Association is one of Australia’s leading independent not for profit museum organisations. Our purpose is to inspire an understanding of the significance of the central Victorian gold rushes in Australia’s national story.

Sovereign Hill maintains teams of heavy working horses living and working at Sovereign Hill. The Horse Department is responsible for maintaining the horses and their quarters and for ensuring the horses carry out their daily work schedule. Horse breeds include Clydesdales, Percherons, cross breeds of these two breeds and Quarter horses. Experience with these breeds is essential.

The Horse Operations Manager is responsible for working with the Horse Team in a collaborative manner to develop new structures and operating procedures, develop and implement a safe working culture and safe work practices, implement a systematic program of training and development of staff and ensure delivery of the daily Horse Operations program.
