Role Purpose:
The South Australian Museum is a leading research institution, one of the most visited museums in Australia, and holds collections of national and international significance. It is a leader in remote and regional community engagement, and in Australian Aboriginal heritage and scientific research. The purpose of the Museum is to inspire in all people a wonder and curiosity about life on Earth.
The Public Engagement team works with Museum staff and partners to bring the stories of the Museum’s research and collections to life in vibrant and exciting ways for all people. The team is responsible for the delivery of the Museum’s ongoing exhibition programme, its education and engagement programmes for the public.
The Aboriginal Education Program Coordinator role ensures the effective delivery of curriculum related programs for the South Australian Museum that improves learning outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and supports the effective delivery of learning programs relating to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures curriculum.
Special Conditions:
- Eligible to be registered with the Teachers Registration Board of South Australia.
- Engagement in this role is subject to a satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check. A renewal will be required every 3 years.
- Out of hours work may be required.
- Intra state and interstate travel may be required.
- The incumbent will be required to maintain a safe working environment by adopting appropriate hazard management practices consistent with the role.
