Duties
- Assist with the delivery of a wide range of public programs including the delivery of interpretive tours, education programs, virtual tours, events and workshops both on-site and off-site.
- Under guidance, assist in the planning, development, coordination, delivery and evaluation of TMAG public and learning programs with particular reference to Aboriginal content.
- Assist in the preparation of publications and media based products for schools, including but not limited to, ‘The Black Box –Tasmanian Aboriginal cultural loan box’.
- Liaise with schools and assist in the development of partnerships and deliver curriculum based programs related to the museum collection, in the museum and/or schools.
- Liaise with departments, public bodies and the community to encourage participation in museum activities, with particular reference and relationship to the Tasmanian Department of Education (DoE) schools and DoE Aboriginal Education Services Unit.
- Contribute to specific TMAG projects as identified and agreed to by your supervisors, involving internal and/or external stakeholders, commensurate with the scope and responsibilities of your position.

Evidence of the following must be provided prior to appointment to this role:
- Aboriginality. The Director, State Service Management Office has determined that this is an Aboriginal Identified role that will be filled in accordance with Employment Direction No. 10: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment in the Tasmanian State Service.
- Working with Children Registration. The Department of State Growth has determined that this role is identified as undertaking child related regulated activities in-line with the definitions of the Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Act 2013, and as such any occupant of this role will require a current Working with Children Registration. As this registration is an essential requirement of this role it must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in the role. The status of the registration may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that the registration remains current and to advise the employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the employer of any new criminal convictions or if a registration is revoked, cancelled or conditions altered.
The person must continue to satisfy the above essential requirements/qualifications throughout their employment in this role.
Desirable Requirements
An appropriate tertiary degree or diploma from a recognised Australian institution.
Previous experience in the education and/or public programs area of a museum or cultural attraction.
