Australia’s largest public museum organisation, Museums Victoria, is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced person to coordinate and facilitate access to First Peoples Collections at Museums Victoria.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

This position is accountable for the successful delivery and coordination of access services relating to First Peoples Collections at Museums Victoria; including provision of information about the collections to meet all internal and external stakeholders’ needs and coordination of access visits.

Notable skills and experiences:

  1. Excellent knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and cultures.
  2. Sound knowledge of legal and cultural issues concerning the public accessibility of First Peoples objects, images and manuscripts held in museum collections, especially with regard to relevant copyright and privacy legislation and the implementation of cultural protocols.
  3. Excellent ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of stakeholders including First Peoples communities, researchers and the general public.
  4. Ability to schedule and coordinate requests and site visits from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, external stakeholders and staff with effective time management.
  5. Demonstrated ability and experience in the preparation of correspondence, reports and statistics, including the presentation of verbal reports.
