The Sovereign Hill Museums Association is a not-for-profit community-based museum organisation that collects, researches, and interprets the heritage of the gold rushes and the Ballarat region. The organisation includes Sovereign Hill Outdoor Museum, the Gold Museum, Sovereign Hill Hotel, AURA, and Narmbool.

The Account Manager is a sales position that sits in the External Engagement Team and reports directly to the Sales & Engagement Manager. This position is primarily Monday-Friday but requires the successful applicant to have the flexibility to work outside of business hours and on weekends where required.

Position Objectives:

Identify sales opportunities and maximise the potential value of all inbound queries.

Primary Roles:

  • Revenue and profit generator
  • Relationship manager

Key Activities:

  • Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate customer service and sales processes and scripts for internal use as well as third party websites and distributors to maximise outcomes
  • Host client and media familiarisations, represent organisation in tradeshow sand attend industry functions as required
  • Establish and grow relationships with key stakeholders and audience segments to maximise opportunities for lead conversion
  • Implement and evaluate sales strategy
  • Collaborate internally to support conversion opportunities
  • Manage relationships, listings and sales agreements with inbound tour operators and third-party websites driving outcomes to maximise value
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and provide regular feedback reports
  • Support a culture of high performance across the organization
  • Provide industry insights, reports and data to the broader bookings team and organisation as required

Key Selection Criteria:

  • At least 3 years experience in sales and client management
  • Sound understanding of the principals and processes in sales, service and customer engagement
  • Sound understanding of tourism markets both domestic and international
  • Robust organisational skills including proven ability to multi-task and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional written and spoken communications skills
  • A strong sense of responsibility coupled with a tendency to apply initiative and get results
  • An understanding of financial processes and responsibilities
  • The ability to contribute to and support delivery of a strategy
  • Ability to meet deadlines and time frames
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills including the use of inventory management software, email, word and excel

The successful applicant will be required to carry an Employee Working with Children’s Check and undergo a police check.
