The Australian Museum (AM) operates within the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet, is the first museum in Australia and was founded in 1827. The AM provides access, engagement and scientific research to increase our understanding of natural history and culture, particularly of the Australasian region. The AM holds more than 21 million objects of biological, geological and cultural collections and develops programs, exhibitions and school and community education initiatives onsite, online and offsite.

About the Role

The Australian Museum Research Institute (AMRI) Administration and Research Support Officer provides administrative and research support services to facilitate the operations of the Australian Museum Research Institute and collaborates effectively with other divisions. Also liaises with other internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the division and is an active participant in Museum projects, including supporting scientific research projects and presentations. 

Essential Requirements

  • BSc or BSc (Hons) preferred, TAFE qualifications, or equivalent research experience with a strong background relevant to the Museum’s research priorities

Knowledge & Experience

  • Adequate knowledge and experience in order to deliver the Key Accountabilities and perform to the Focus Capabilities outlined in this Role Description
