The Museums Discovery Centre Team supports the dual responsibility for off-site storage and a public access remit. The Discovery Centre provides a world-standard museum storage and collection care facility that is publicly accessible to diverse audiences through a range of tailored behind-the-scenes programs.

The Administration & Bookings Officer supports the smooth running of bookings, programs and operations at the Discovery Centre to enhance the visitor experience and lifelong learning.

Key accountabilities

  1. Being first point of contact for both the public and museum personnel engaged in business with the Castle Hill site.
  2. Assists the team to deliver a quality visitor experience for the public through administrative and office support.
  3. Ensure the smooth functioning of the site office by undertaking all administrative support activities, including taking tour and group visit bookings, effectively maintaining departmental records and files, organising repair of office equipment, ordering stationery supplies, maintaining general office tidiness, answering the telephone, assisting the site team with clerical needs and distributing incoming mail.
  4. Assists in the co-ordination of departmental paperwork including documents to Human Resources (leave applications, flexi sheets, and overtime payments).
  5. Assist with Powerhouse events hosted at MDC including public open days, flexibility to accommodate weekend work and flexible hours as required.
  6. Contribute to the MDC Business Plan, consistent with the Museum’s Strategic Plan.
  7. Report on programs, services and income generating activities.
  8. Build and maintain stakeholder relationships and ensure that programs at the site maximise visitation and develop the overall reputation and profile of the PDC site and the Museum in general.
