City of Launceston currently has an exciting, 12 month fixed term opportunity to provide strategic and operational input into one of Australia’s most significant regional cultural institutions. Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery (QVMAG) sits at the intersection of Natural Sciences, Public History and Visual Arts and Design and plays a critical role in engaging communities of northern Tasmania.

The Advisor Special Projects and Strategy will bring to QVMAG their unique blend of project delivery and strategic development. The role will provide strong leadership, develop the strategies of the organisation and implement innovative frameworks which identify and define QVMAG and integrates our diverse stakeholder interests.

Working closely with the General Manager Creative Arts and Cultural Services, the Advisor Special Projects and Strategy will lead the development and delivery of the identified QVMAG Organisational Strategic Development Program (OSDP) including strategic, commercial and operational planning and implementation, organisational framework development and program delivery.

Responsibilities include ensuring design and delivery functions of the OSDP are met including planning, stakeholder engagement, change management and implementation.

We are looking for someone who demonstrates, through behaviour, an alignment and an understanding of our values and has the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated substantial experience relevant to the Accountabilities of the Role
  • Demonstrated achievement in successfully contributing to the delivery of major projects, strategic development and organisational programs, preferably in a cultural institution environment.
  • Strong understanding of cultural policy, strategic direction and objectives, particularly in relation to resource management, continuous improvement and service delivery functions.
  • Experience in strategic and corporate planning
