Collections Part 1: Valuing museum artefacts, ABC News, 9 March 2019
Museums have always found it difficult to put monetary value on unusual artefacts, especially those that don’t have an obvious market value, like paintings do.
It’s been inconsistent, even ad hoc.
So Australian museums got together and developed a national framework for valuing their collections, which was completed late last year.
It’s a first, and an international standard is now being adopted, based on the Australian guide.
