AmaGA announces next National Director

Next National Director Katie Russell, Australian Museums and Galleries Association, 8 December 2020

Katie Russell, our new AMaGA National Director

It is with pleasure that AMaGA welcomes Katie Russell as our new National Director. Katie comes to AMaGA from the National Gallery of Australia, where she was Head of Programs, Education, Research Library and Archives. Katie brings a wealth of experience gained over 13 years at the NGA, as well as previously at the National Portrait Gallery and the Art Gallery of NSW. Katie is a graduate of the Australian National University, and she has a Master of Arts from Leicester University, UK.

With expertise in public programming, education and research, as well as extensive experience in applying museum best practice, we believe Katie will be an inspiring addition to the national team, and help both AMaGA and our sector thrive during and after these times of compounding crises.

Already setting her vision in place for AMaGA’s ongoing work, Katie affirms: ‘It is important that the Association continues to amplify the collective voice of the membership, and to support the range of perspectives it represents.’

Katie will be taking up the role as National Director at the National Office in Canberra in early February 2021.
