Australian cultural institutions are calling for support after a series of major cuts to funding and jobs at galleries.
The Art Gallery of New South Wales announced last week it would be cutting dozens of jobs to remedy a 7.5 million dollar budget black hole. It comes just weeks after a restructure at the state’s cultural funding arm — Create NSW — saw financial support pulled from a number of regional galleries.
