Sydney’s museums are enjoying a Lego-led economic boom, with yet another blockbuster exhibition hitting the city.

The Powerhouse Museum is presenting the world premiere of New York artist Nathan Sawaya’s The Art of the Brick: DC Comics. The enormous exhibition includes more than 120 artworks based on comic book characters including Batman, the Joker, Wonder Woman and the Green Lantern.

It is expected to draw tens of thousands of visitors to the museum between now and May.

“We are expecting this show to be the hottest ticket in Sydney over summer,” outgoing Powerhouse director Rose Hiscock said. “As a museum of applied arts and sciences, we care deeply about the arts, but we care just as much about the engineering, maths and science in this exhibition.”
