Australia’s largest public museum organisation is seeking an Assistant Collection Manager, Vertebrates to assist with the management of the Vertebrate Collections (Herpetology, Ornithology and Mammalogy) and associated collection information in order to enable their use in Museum research and public programs and by external stakeholders.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

This position is accountable for enhancing the management and accessibility of the State Collection by the preservation of specimens, through physically and electronically registering selected components of the Vertebrate Collections and by contributing to Museum public program and outreach activities.

Other notable skill sets include:

Sound knowledge of the taxonomy of tetrapod vertebrates (amphibians, reptiles, birds & mammals)

  1. Sound knowledge of and experience in assisting with the management of Natural Sciences collections, particularly the Vertebrate collections.
  2. Sound knowledge of and experience in using electronic collection management databases in museums, especially KE EMu
  3. Sound knowledge of and experience in the collection and preservation of vertebrate zoological specimens.
  4. A demonstrated aptitude for learning and applying new technical skills associated with managing museum collections and with online projects and print publishing.
