The Museum of Applied Arts and Science (MAAS) is Australia’s contemporary museum for excellence and innovation in applied arts and sciences and is uniquely placed to use its collections, disciplines and ideas to demonstrate how applied arts and sciences impact Australia and the world.
The Museum’s Curatorial department has an exciting opportunity for three full time Assistant Curators to play a key role in supporting collection development, exhibitions and displays, research and publications, online content and programs.
The successful candidates will:
- Be self-motivated, disciplined and collaborative team members with a capacity for interdisciplinary thinking and contemporary museology
- Have sound knowledge of one or more of the following disciplines: fashion, decorative arts and design, physical sciences, technologies, engineering or contemporary culture
- Have high-level oral and written communication skills suitable for a diverse range of audiences and stakeholders
- Contribute to audience development and other initiatives that support the Museum’s strategic vision and mission
- Possess relevant tertiary qualifications
Assistant Curator Grade 2 (permanent/ongoing) with demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in one or more of MAAS’s key disciplines: fashion, decorative arts and design, and contemporary culture.
Assistant Curator Grade 2 (1 x permanent/ongoing, 1 x 16 months temporary) with demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in one or more of MAAS’s key disciplines: physical sciences, technologies, engineering and contemporary culture.

Question 1 – Describe a project you worked on recently. Explain how your responsibilities as part of the project team helped your department/team or your company, meet its goals.
Question 2 – Provide an example of when you have worked in a collaborative environment undertaking multiple projects. What strategies did you use to meet and manage the competing deadlines and priorities?
