The Western Australian Museum is positioning itself through scientific and academic excellence, public programs and relevant exhibitions to keep pace with the rapidly changing face of Western Australia. The Museum has made a major contribution to the collections, conservation and research of the State’s natural and social history, maritime heritage and the cultural of Indigenous communities in Western Australia.

Conditions:
This is a full-time permanent vacancy. There will also be a Pool running for a period of 18 months from the initial appointment. Applicants deemed suitable will be placed into a pool from which full-time, part-time, fixed term or permanent appointments may be made.

You must have a tertiary qualification, ideally at honours level or higher in Australian history or a closely related field to be considered for this position. All overseas qualifications must have been assessed for Australian equivalency.

Job Description:
As the Assistant Curator, History you will be required to:
• Assist with the documentation and management of the History Department’s collections.
• Assist with the research and development of public programs, particularly exhibitions.
• Assist with management of collection stores.
• Facilitate appropriate access to History collections and information.
• Assist with training and supervising volunteers and practicum students.
