This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to deliver at a high level a thoroughly conceptualised, researched and produced series of events within the Unsettle artists in residence program (August 2017-June 2018) and to provide leadership across the management of events. This is a part-time, project based post 0.6 FTE.

ABOUT unsettle
Unsettle is an artists-in-residence program at Queensland Museum where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people draw on the State Collection to inspire works of film, street and visual art, music and theatre.
Running from February 2017 to April 2018, unsettle is a Digi Youth Arts Creative Initiative supported by Queensland Museum and funded through a federal government grant aimed at helping artists and organisations to shape our cultural landscape, increase cultural diversity, and inspire, educate and entertain audiences nationally and internationally.
Unsettle provides an opportunity for established artists to mentor young artists as they question, challenge and expose the nature of collections in galleries and museums.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage own work plan to meet brand, vision and strategic and operational objectives.
- In consultation with the Head of Program, Lead Curator and Digi Youth Arts formulate, plan, produce and manage to the highest level unsettle activities and events. These will include all workshops and development activities and the final events staged at Queensland Museum.
- Collaborate closely with the QM team, DYA, artists and participants ensuring all events meet stakeholder needs and communication across stakeholders is regular and informative.
- Develop risk analyses for all events.
- Actively participate in the marketing and promotion of Unsettle and its events including the development of copy as required for individual events.
- Provide high level reporting and financial reporting on activities and project milestones to Project Board.
- Take a leadership role in the delivery of the program by modelling exemplary behaviour in the conceptualising and delivery of events to the highest artistic standard.
- Contribute to the safety culture of QMN by reporting all incidents and hazards and ensuring work is undertaken in the safest way possible, following all QMN WHS policies and/or procedures and guidelines relevant to the job. Undertake all relevant responsibilities identified in the QMN WHS Accountabilities and Responsibilities Matrix.
- Comply with QMN’s policies and procedures (including approval processes) and Government legislation.
