The Powerhouse Museum sits at the intersection of art, design, science and technology and plays a critical role in engaging communities with contemporary ideas and issues.

The Powerhouse Program is one of the largest cultural infrastructure projects currently being undertaken in the country. The Program will transform and renew one of Australia’s oldest and most important cultural institutions and carry forward its legacy to reflect the changing needs of the contemporary communities of NSW.  The Program includes four key projects; the establishment of the Powerhouse Precinct at Parramatta, the expansion of the Powerhouse collection facilities in Castle Hill, the establishment of the Powerhouse Creative Industries Precinct in Ultimo and the Relocation and Digitisation of over 300,000 objects from the Powerhouse collections.

The Opportunities

1. Packing and Storage Teams (CRD Project team)
   6 x full time Collection Officer roles until Dec 2022
   Role – Under the Supervision of the Collection Storage and Logistics Manager you will be undertaking the day-to-day activities required for the Collection Relocation and Digitisation (CRD) Project. This includes the handling, packing and transporting of museum objects within and between the Museum sites at Ultimo and Castle Hill.
2. Packing and Storage Teams (CRD Project team)
   2 x full time Assistant Registrar roles until Dec 2022
   3 x full time Assistant Registrar roles until June 2023
   Role – Under the Supervision of the Packing and Storage Team Leaders you will be undertaking the handling, packing and storing of museum objects.? This includes physical and digital registration tasks associated with location control and object safety.
3. Talent pool for future opportunities
   A Talent pool will be created to fill any future opportunities as a Collections Officer or an Assistant Registrar in the Collection Relocation Digitisation (CRD) Project team. Specify your collections experience in the museum and any specialisation in your cover letter. We will assess your application to find the suitability within different teams.
