Australia’s largest public museum organisation is seeking an Assistant Collection Manager to assist with the management of the Vertebrate Collections (Herpetology, Ornithology and Mammalogy) and associated collection information in order to enable their use in Museum research and public programs and by external stakeholders.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The primary responsibilities of the Assistant Collection Manager, Vertebrates includes providing assistance with the implementation of policies, systems and procedures to manage and provide access to the Vertebrates Collections.

Notable skills and experiences:

  1. Sound knowledge of the taxonomy of one or. more of the vertebrate disciplines (amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals).
  2. Sound knowledge of and experience in assisting with the management of Natural Sciences collections, particularly Vertebrate collections.
  3. Sound knowledge of and experience in using electronic collection management databases in museums, especially EMu and MVWISE.
  4. Sound knowledge of and experience in the collecting and preservation of Vertebrate zoological specimens.
  5. Well-developed communication skills, both interpersonal and written
  6. Ability to work autonomously and in teams.
  7. The successful applicant is required to undergo and, for new employees, meet the cost of a National Police Records Check and be assessed as suitable.
  8. A current and valid Driver’s License is required.
