Auckland Museum is a much-loved organisation at the centre of Auckland’s identity, committed to developing and sharing engaging content through its galleries, exhibitions, events and educational programmes.

In an exciting period of transformation and growth, Auckland Musuem is seeking an innovative Audience Development and Engagement Specialist to contribute to the development of our public programmes for audiences. You will empower our audiences to engage with Auckland Museum’s collections, exhibitions and resources by designing and facilitating meaningful public programmes. You will help us expand our reach and accessibility through programming.

You are a passionate and talented public programmer who makes a real difference to the organisations and communities you work with. You are creative, innovative and skilled in working with groups of all ages, and you have particular experience programming within a kaupapa Māori framework.

You bring a range of innovative practices and you create empowering experiences. You’re a lifelong learner with a growth mindset who enjoys creative problem solving. You enjoy developing new programmes and products, and you believe in testing ideas and experimenting. You’re a team player with great ideas and the skills to bring them to life.

Fluency in Te Reo Māori and proven experience of embedding Māori tikanga and Mātauranga Māori into public programming is essential.

This role is a part time (20 hours per week) fixed term contract, for one year to help Auckland Musuem deliver a dynamic public programme for diverse audiences onsite, online, and beyond our walls. A varied and interesting position, you will be part of a team of four Audience Development and Engagement specialists who develop engaging, innovative and relevant experiences for diverse audiences.
