The Sovereign Hill Museums Association is a not-for-profit community-based organisation that includes: Sovereign Hill Outdoor Museum, Sovereign Hill Hotel, AURA and Narmbool, the Australian Centre for Rare Trades and Arts and the Australian Centre for Gold Rush Collections. It cares for a nationally and internationally significant collection of over 150,000 objects and protects the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Victorian gold rush.
We are an Australian tourism icon that attracts some 500,000 visitors annually. The Outdoor Museum is of international renown as a living museum featuring rare trades, programs, and experiences that interpret a pivotal point in Australia’s history. In all, some 350 staff work to bring our goldrush story to life. They are supported by over 250 volunteers.
About the role:
The AURA Guide is responsible for assisting in the delivery of AURA – Gold Changes Everything, following set routines under the supervision of the Duty Officer. AURA, which is an immersive 90-minute theatre experience using 3D technology that follows gold from its creation through to its discovery, right up until the current day, runs in the evening at Sovereign Hill after the Museum closes. The role involves delivering a high level of customer service and care, ensuring an outstanding visitor experience.
This is a casual role, that will require the availability of an average of 2-3 weeknights, weekends, and public holidays. Previous experience within a tourism, customer service, or retail environment would be highly regarded. You must be confident in dealing with and presenting to people, with excellent customer service skills. Applicants with an interest in the Gold Rush history are encouraged to apply
