2024 Royal Visit, Australian War Memorial, October 2024

His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty Queen Camilla will visit the Australian War Memorial on 21 October.

Their Majesties will pay their respects privately in the Australian War Memorial Commemorative Area and lay a wreath and floral tribute.

The public will be able to view Their Majesties when they visit the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander memorial, ‘For Our Country’ located in the Memorial’s Sculpture Garden at 12:35 pm.

The Memorial galleries and Poppy’s Café will open from 2 pm.

Members of the public should plan to be in place at the Australian War Memorial no later than 11:45 am to avoid road closures and allow for security screening. Check the Transport Canberra website for special bus services to the Australian War Memorial for the Royal Visit.

Getting to the Memorial

  • It is recommended the community use public transport to get to events as road closures will be in place and parking is extremely limited.
  • Transport ACT will provide special bus services for the Royal Visit events from the City and Woden Interchanges. It is highly recommended people use these services to avoid parking and traffic congestion. Please refer to Transport ACT’s website and social media channels for updates.
  • Road closures will be in place around the Memorial prior, during and immediately after the events. Please refer to local policing and council information for the most up to date traffic information.

 

Security Screening

  • Please be aware attendees may be subject to security screening prior to entry to the event. Security screen points will open 10.30 am, before the event. Please refer to event map for screen point locations.
