Bush Fire at Narmbool – Sovereign Hill farm property

On 19 December, Sovereign Hill’s farm property Narmbool and several of its staff endured one of the worst days that people living in rural Australia can experience. A huge bushfire razed the property. It destroyed fencing, some bush camp facilities and a large number of sheep. Our staff, Gill, Mick, Peter and Anthony bravely activated the Narmbool Fire Action Plan in this very life-threatening situation. They are all coping with this devastation.

The beautiful homestead precinct, the lodge, some of the garden and the learning centre have survived, but there is a huge recovery task ahead.

Our biggest thanks and appreciation goes to Gill, Mick, Peter and Anthony and the amazing CFA (Country Fire Authority) volunteers during this incredibly awful and difficult time.
