Museum Victoria is seeking a Business & Grants Manager to provide high level business support to the Director, Collections, Research & Exhibitions and Departmental Managers in relation to annual business plans, budgets and other business proposals, and to provide support in acquiring and administering external research grants and partnerships.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The position is accountable for providing business support to the Director, Collections, Research & Exhibitions and Departmental Managers on a range of budget and business management issues affecting the Collections, Research & Exhibitions Division to ensure that effective decisions are made and income and expenditure are within budget. The position is also accountable for providing support in identifying, applying for and administering external research grants and partnerships.

Key Selection Criteria:

  1. Sound experience in development, monitoring and reporting of budgets and business plans.
  2. Demonstrated experience in applying analytical and conceptual skills to develop business cases.
  3. High level verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to write persuasively and liaise and negotiate effectively with senior management, internal and external peers.
  4. Proven capacity to manage work activities with competing demands and multiple stakeholders and the capacity to manage teams and work with and through individuals and groups.
  5. Some knowledge of current issues associated with research funding, research management and philanthropy in Australia.
  6. Advanced skills in the use of spreadsheets, databases and word processing.
  7. The successful incumbent is required to undergo a National Police Records Check and be assessed as suitable for employment (new employees are required to meet this cost).
