You will be responsible for the leadership and operational management of Museum of Tropical Queensland (MTQ) as part of the Queensland Museum Network (QMN). You will ensure MTQ delivers customer-focused visitor services in a sustainable operating environment. You will partner with other QMN leaders to ensure MTQ delivers on the network’s organisational objectives. As a leader, you will work with the community and key stakeholders to advance and realise QMN vision and goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead MTQ and contribute to building QMN reputation as an important cultural and scientific institution in Queensland.
- Manage MTQ day-to-day operations and ensure the delivery of services through effective resource planning, management and evaluation.
- Represent MTQ in a range of forums, including acting as media spokesperson as required.
- Develop policies and provide direction to staff on operational requirements, including workplace health and safety, risk management and business continuity.
- Develop and maintain relationships within the local community in areas of strategic importance including local government, tourism, business, education, and community services to increase stakeholder support for MTQ.
- Develop strong relationships with other QMN work units to ensure the effective delivery of exhibitions, events and learning activities to meet strategic objectives.
- Oversee budget and ensure operations meet revenue and expenditure targets.
- Promote a high performing, respectful and inclusive workplace culture, and support all (the museum) employees to realise their potential.
- Participate in the QMN senior leadership team.
This position reports to the Director of Commercial Strategy and Operations.
