About the Australian Museum

The Australian Museum (AM) operates within the NSW Department of Premier & Cabinet and was founded in 1827 as the first museum in Australia. The AM provides access, engagement and scientific research to increase our understanding of natural history and culture, particularly of the Australasian region. The AM holds more than 21 million objects of biological, geological and cultural collections and develops programs, exhibitions and school and community education initiatives onsite, online and offsite. The AM’s purpose is to make nature, Indigenous cultures & science accessible and relevant to everyone.

About the role

Education Presenters provide a wide range of education programs and interpretive services for Australian Museum visitors. They deliver education programs for education groups, on and offsite and digitally, and provide an enjoyable and positive learning experience. The role engages in face to face delivery of education and visitor programs for a diverse range of audiences and maintains and maximizes the use of Museum services and information by schools and tertiary institutions as well as, independent learners, for educational purposes.

Opportunities for work will initially be available during May to September 2020 at a variety of sites in Sydney and regional NSW, focused on delivering curriculum-based biology programs for senior secondary students.

The AM supports a diverse workforce and promotes applications from First Nations and Torres Strait Islander people.
