The CFO will support the CEO in leading the transformational change of Museum Victoria in a strategic and visionary manner.
The CFO and Director of Corporate Services is accountable for Museums Victoria’s financial responsibilities as well as for fostering a robust governance environment. This Executive role will partner with the Chief Executive Officer and the Executive Team to ensure informed and commercially astute decision making in support of the delivery of the vision and overall direction for Museum Victoria.
The CFO will support the CEO in leading the transformational change of Museum Victoria in a strategic and visionary manner.
Scope:
The CFO is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and management of the Corporate Services Division, which includes the following functions:

Human Resources | Health and Safety | Capital Projects |
Governance & Risk | Security | Commercial Operations |
Essential Criteria:
- A high calibre executive with significant strategic experience in CFO roles with a high involvement in managing key Government stakeholders
- Extensive experience in leading and/or delivering commercially focused financial solutions in the public sector and similar regulatory environments
- Leadership maturity to be able to manage themselves, manage a multi-disciplined team, interact and influence with both internal and external stakeholders in the creative, education, museum and government sectors
- Demonstrated role modelling, energetic, determined, positive, robust and resilient leadership, able to inspire confidence and respect, and exemplify high standards of conduct.
- Technical skills demonstrated at senior levels in financial management across all financial management functions, including practical experience in financial control and budgetary management.
- Demonstrated experience leading and understanding the functional requirements of all disciplines under the Corporate Services directorate
- Negotiation, advocacy, liaison and persuasive skills which are applied particularly in the resolution of conflict in a range of commercial, industrial and political situations to achieve the best possible results for Museums Victoria whilst fulfilling equity and social justice requirements.
Qualifications:
- Graduate or post graduate qualification in accounting or a relevant discipline
- Professional designation of membership of CPA Australia or the Institute of Chartered Accountants
