Climate Heritage Network call for Cop28

Our statement on the call to put culture at the heart of climate action, Museums Association, 20 November 2023

We have signed the Climate Heritage Network’s global call to put cultural heritage, arts and creative sectors at the heart of climate action and are urging other cultural organisations to support the call.

This campaign aims to unite culture and heritage voices in a global effort to put culture, arts and heritage at the heart of climate change planning, policy and action.

We join the call that delegates to the UN Climate Conference adopt a Joint Work Decision to recognise that culture is an indispensable pillar of effective and just climate action.

Sharon Heal, the director of the MA, said: “We are pleased to be signing this important global call to action. Museums can and should be at the centre of climate action.

“We encourage museums to be bold and brave. Museums can champion change by helping people to imagine and realise the actions that need to be taken to achieve climate justice.”
