Collection Digitisation Coordinator, MAAS Project

Do work that matters…
As a part of our Collection Relocation project, you will be working on the preparation of the collection currently stored at Ultimo for digitisation and relocation to the museum discovery centre. The Collection Digitisation Coordinator (MAAS Project) coordinates resources to deliver high quality digital records of collection items using a range of photographic/imaging equipment and associated software.
Key highlights of the role:
- Coordinate the collection digitisation studio according to professional photography, museum and archival standards.
- Supervise the collection digitisation project teams, ensuring compliance with procedures and quality requirements in line with project/s milestones and outcome.
- Contribute to and support the development of project reports, schedules and workplans.
- Provide advice and information to Collections Digitisation Manager on digital preservation, emerging technology, digitisation trends and best practice.
We are looking for someone to join the team with the following attributes:
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications in photography and equivalent experience in complex, creative and corporate photography.
- Experience with archival and documentary photography/imaging of heritage items
- High level of knowledge and experience with colour management, metadata and processing software on both Windows and Macintosh platforms.
- Ability to plan, schedule and manage digitisation teams to maintain schedules and meet deadlines
- Extensive experience in the application of the principles and techniques relating to reformatting and digitisation
- Experience working in large scale collection-based digitisation projects in the cultural sector
- Knowledge of museums and their operations would be ideal
