Te Papa is looking for an imaging technician to work on a programme to digitise Te Papa’s collections.
This will be an exciting period of work at Te Papa as we accelerate the digitisation of our collections and innovate in how we create and make digital collections more accessible.
This role will include:
- photographing or scanning collection items for the Collection Digitisation Programme
- ensuring digital reproductions appropriately represent the original and respect artists intentions
- ensuring outputs meet the briefed requirements and standards of the Collection Digitisation Programme
- performing image correction, digital retouching and other image manipulation services where needed
- supporting the management of digital images through accurate metadata creation and adherence to quality standards
- managing digital files and loading images to the Collection Information System, EMu
We are looking for someone:
- skilled and experienced in accurate digital imaging and scanning, preferably in a museum, gallery, library or archive context
- capable in use of Adobe Photoshop and related software
- who has an understanding of digital asset management and good metadata practices
- displays excellent attention to detail
- can organise their time effectively and to meet deadlines, and
- has the ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
