Responsibilities of the position
As the Collection Information Systems Coordinator you will be part of the larger Registration team and have responsibility, under limited direction, for the functions outlined below:
- Supervise and manage the daily operations of the Collection Information Systems Team under the guidance of the Associate Registrar Collection Documentation and Systems,
- Undertake high-level administration of the Museum’s collection management system (EMu) and digital asset management system (Piction) including leading their developments, upgrades and maintenance,
- Oversee the development and maintenance of system associated documentation, including user guidelines and training material,
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify where Museum business needs and workflows can be supported or improved and to ensure system standards are developed and maintained,
- Support the Associate Registrar Collection Documentation and Systems with reporting activities and higher level tasks as required,
- Ensure that you have sufficient supervision, instruction and equipment to undertake your work safely and that employees in the Collection Information Systems team are provided with sufficient supervision, instruction and equipment to enable them to perform their duties safely.
Selection criteria
Applicants must respond to each of the following selection criteria in their application:
- Demonstrated experience in the administration and development of collection management or digital asset management systems in a cultural collecting institution including associated documentation and procedures.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience and the ability to coordinate the daily operational requirements of the Collection Information Systems team, including setting priorities and meeting deadlines under limited supervision.
- Demonstrated initiative in the workplace and ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary workgroups including the capability to determine business needs in consultation with stakeholders.
- Demonstrated oral and written communications skills of a high order and the ability to liaise with system users, stakeholders, contractors and suppliers.
- Well developed knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of Workplace Diversity and Equity, Workplace Relations and Occupational Health and Safety and the ability to apply them to work practices.
