We are seeking a versatile and motivated collection manager to be responsible for the Botany Collection for a period of 12 months. The Collection Manager is responsible for the expert physical care, processing and documentation of collection items, and for providing access to collections by supporting visitors, administering and managing loans, responding to enquiries, and contributing to exhibitions and public programmes.
To be effective in this full time but fixed term role, you will offer
- A tertiary Degree relevant to the Museum’s natural science collections
- Demonstrated knowledge of Linnaean classification systems and taxonomic science
- Experience with collection management databases, Vernon CMS preferred
- Experience in the preparation of herbarium specimens and freeze-drying
- Evidence of ability to work collaboratively and in cross-functional teams
- Excellent interpersonal and effective time management skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- A reasonable level of fitness and the ability to lift objects and operate mechanical equipment such as pallet jack, forklift and wave lifters
